Visit to Lille

At long last Friday December 2 was here and Mrs Fisher, Mrs Thornber, Mrs Walton and Mrs Henderson, along with 32 Year 10 and 11 students, set off for our trip to Lille. Thanks to our students’  excellent time-keeping we had a speedy journey and even managed an unscheduled half an hour in Boulogne. This was just enough time to blow off the cobwebs and, in some cases, buy essential French  berets for our visit.

We then visited the Chocolaterie and had a wonderful time sampling some handmade chocolates that we had seen being created.

We arrived at our hotel in good time and the quiz evening we had after dinner gave the girls a chance to show off their knowledge about France.

Saturday was spent in Lille itself and we all enjoyed the Christmas Market and the many shopping areas that Lille has to offer. We even had sunshine warm enough to sit outside in!

The bowling evening was excellent, with the girls displaying some very interesting techniques and a visit to the Cité Europe on Sunday brought our visit to an end all too soon.

The students were a pleasure to take and their impeccable behaviour made it all worthwhile so a huge thank you to them all on behalf of the staff.

“A well timed trip to release the stress of Year 11. We feel much more confident with our French. It’s a life skill not just a plain lesson.”  Rebekah Scott and Hannah Ortega
