Professional Theatre Company Visit

Theatre Centre came to perform ‘Under a Foreign Sky’ to an audience of Year 9, 10 and 11 students on Monday 7 November. The play was written by Paula B. Stanic when she wanted to investigate the impact of current global upheavals and how a new home can change who you are. The play portrayed three young immigrants who made the journey to Britain for a new start in life and explored the diverse outcomes.

Staff and students were impressed by the high quality of the piece, how the actors changed characters frequently with ‘great accents’ and how effectively they used the staging and props. Students were able to see how dramatic climax and twist in the plot added to the emotional belief in the piece.

‘Under a Foreign Sky’ was a very beneficial play as I currently study Drama GCSE. I have gained knowledge and interest from this play. It has inspired me to be more creative in my own drama work. I appreciate this play because it enables me to take my drama skills to another level.
