Spark Book Launch
On Wednesday 5 October we celebrated the Spark Book Launch . This involved our Illustrators, selected from Years 7 to 9, who had attended our Summer School in Illustration:
Charlotte Henry, Hannah Hamblett, Johanna Kugler, Vibha Shaji, Gugendeep Kaur, Agnes John, Faith Ling, Rachael Barnes-Powell, Rashida Makda, Fahima Saiyed and Destiny Reidhofer.
The students had responded to short stories, written by pupils from schools across Leicester. The book launch gave the students a chance to meet the authors and have photos taken for the Leicester Mercury, along with our Illustrator in Residence, Tom Cleaver.
There was also a cake cutting ceremony – the cake had a picture of the book’s front cover and was in the shape of a huge book! All of the girls involved said it was very exciting to see their work published.
The publication is called ‘Never Judge A Book’ and copies were given to the illustrators. It will be available in our library soon and also in school libraries across Leicester.
Well done to everybody involved and thanks to Mrs Thornber and Mr Redman for organising the Book Launch, along with Harriet Roy from the Spark Festival.
