BTEC Performing Arts: ‘As You Like it’

As part of their preparation for the Year 11 BTEC Performing Arts  course, students went to Melton Theatre to work with the National Youth Theatre and to ‘get a feel for’ the venue ready for their performance of ‘As You Like It’ on the 11 November (as part of The Schools’ Shakespeare Festival). The students prepared as an actor would do in performance workshops and then performed a section of their play on the stage. They were directed by members of the National Youth Theatre who made them aware of developments for their characters and their use of voice and space on the real stage. Students really appreciated the day and are looking forward to a live performance in November.

“I loved the energy that was brought by the groups to show dedication to our production, and the tutors at the theatre loved it.”
Ngozi Ogon and Patience Kandare

“I learnt that body language portrays character even more than speech.”
Rebekah Scott

“We really got to know the spacing and stage we were performing in so we could be prepared.”
Milly Bianchini and Georgia Ashberry- Sharp

“We really got a taste of what it would be like to be part of a real theatre group/company.”
