The Year 10 Art Trip - September 2011
Our new year 10 Art students kicked off their Art GCSE course by having their very first lesson in the beautiful scenic grounds of Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. The Art Team and 81 art students arrived in the 850 acre park just North West of Leicester and had their lunch on a ridge overlooking the reservoir, the sun was shining and there was a creative buzz of enthusiasm amongst the group! The purpose of our visit to Bradgate Park was to create inspiration for the student’s first topic on the art curriculum, which is ‘Landscapes’. Each student took photographs and made several thumbnail sketches of the landscape around them using a viewfinder, concentrating on fields of vision and annotating colour and texture.
After a stimulating and motivational afternoon students returned to college with inspiration for their there next art lesson and forthcoming year!
Student’s found the trip very beneficial;
“My day at Bradgate Park was very good! The landscapes were lovely to draw and photograph and the weather was also good – it was a magical time!”
Kiranpreet Kaur Kainth 10.1

“It was a very worthwhile experience; we learnt about landscapes and depth of image and used view finders to draw parts of the landscape. It was great to go outside of the classroom”
Ruby Waage-Townsend and Libby Dishman 10.1
